If you’re a young person with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), or a parent or carer of a young person with JIA, then you’ll be all to familiar with the form you are asked to complete at the hospital every time you visit the rheumatologist.

The form, also called the Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire (CHAQ), is the most widely used measure of function in childhood arthritis. While it’s a way of helping to assess whether arthritis is impacting on everyday function; it’s not the most engaging thing to complete every time you go to clinic. Therefore, researchers at The University of Manchester are looking to speak to young people aged 11 to 21 with JIA, to see how we could best measure everyday function in the clinic.
