Despite improving survival rates, cancer is the leading cause of death in children and young people. There is a growing need for technology to support children and young people with cancer, as well as to support health care professionals to provide optimal care.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Children and Young People MedTech Co-operative is collaborating with the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria, MedConnect North, and Lab4Living to deliver a technology innovation workshop on Tuesday 2nd April 2019, 09:30 – 16:30 BST, at The Biosphere in Newcastle.

The aim is to identify potential technology solutions that address unmet clinical needs in children’s cancer. The workshop will bring together health care professionals, designers, engineers, businesses, academics, young people and families, policy makers, and commissioners. There will be a series of short talks and interactive sessions.

Attendance is invited from health care professionals, designers, engineers, businesses, academics, young people and families, policy makers, commissioners, and anyone with knowledge of children’s cancer or child health technology. Attendees will be encouraged to form multi-disciplinary collaborations and project teams during the workshop. Project ideas generated during the workshop will be taken forward and jointly supported by the NIHR Children and Young People MedTech Co-operative, the North East and North Cumbria Academic Health Science Network, and MedConnect North.
